PARISH DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY CONSULTATION :  Securing Our Future Together

The Archbishop is consulting us on the future of our Archdiocese and what that will mean for the future of our Parish.  This future is not far away

• Within  7 years the number of priests in the diocese  will have halved
• Within 12 years all of the priests in our Deanery will be retired
• Within 14 years, without change, the diocese will run out of money to function

We are asked how to restructure our Parishes, and deploy our resources, priests and lay roles to :

• develop our parish as part of a wider sustainable, community?
• to look after the sick, the hospitalised, and the dying?
• maintain baptisms, communions, confirmations, weddings, and funerals with fewer priests?
• nurture faith within our local schools, deepen our community outreach, and encourage new shoots of faith to grow?
